The first Science of Diversity Symposium at Columbia was held in November 2006 and was sponsored by the Provost’s Task Force on Diversity in Science & Engineering, the Earth Institute NSF-ADVANCE Program, the Department of Psychology, and the Offices of the Vice Provost for Diversity Initiatives and the Executive Vice President for Research. Speakers included Alan Brinkley, Provost, and Geraldine Downey, Vice-Provost of Diversity Initiatives. The event was attended by over 200 people and received media coverage.
